Mwili Mark,
a body of marks.

A modular logotype for an inter-school athletics federation. The mark is built from a single diagonal stroke — borrowed from the chisel-cut numerals on Nairobi's oldest clock tower — and rotated through six positions to spell any federation name without redrawing a single glyph. Printers love it. So do coaches.

Taka Taka,
sorted by hand.

A four-bin household sorting system for a Nairobi recycling co-op. Each bin carries a single verb — Tenga, Osha, Jaza, Leka — set in 240pt Fraunces, die-cut so the word is the handle. Children read the bin before they read the lid. Behaviour changed in 11 weeks across 412 households.

Type Design · Two Scripts

Jua Type,
set in two suns.

A dual-script display face — Latin and Kiswahili's adopted consonants — drawn so that a Swahili proverb and its English mirror sit on the same baseline at the same cap weight. Jua means sun. The counter of every 'o' is hand-tuned to admit one degree more light. It is, quietly, a reading face for the Equator.

Soma Kenya,
a wall that teaches.

Twelve risograph posters, one per CBC value, distributed free to 2,400 junior schools. Each poster carries a single verb set in 360pt and a single sentence in 14pt. The wall is the curriculum. Printed in two-pass riso — tomato red and ultramarine — on 120gsm newsprint that yellows on purpose, so the school knows when to ask for the next batch.
